MediaDirect Reinstallation

I just received a Reinstall kit for MD 2 from Dell.  The documentation tells me that I have to reserve 1308MB of unpartitioned space for MD2.  However, the online journal tells me that I need 2048MB of unpartitioned space.  Which is it?

Thanks!

The [hidden] Media Centre partition size on my XPS M1730 is 2.5GB, so you'll need to allocate the larger capacity at least :smileywink:

Can i install the media direct without reinstalling the windows vista. Is there an option for that?

Started with XP, repartitioned to create a minimum of 2048mb for MediaDirect, installed XP and all essential drivers, restarted, then installed MD2, ejected the CD, shut down.  Hit the MD button and powered up from there.  The computer works just fine now, and MD power button is fully functional.

I could write a whole essay about my Dell/MediaDirect saga of the last two weeks.  And when I reached the end of my rope (after repeatedly requesting the reinstallation disk for MD), they told me if I paid $39, I would get full service plus the CD.  The service call was scheduled for between 1pm - 3pm (we need a 2-hour window, they said) tomorrow (Thursday).  The disk arrived yesterday, and I reinstalled last night.   Forget the service call!

One more thing -- the documentation that came with the MD reinstallation disk said I needed to reserve a minimum of 1038megs for MD2.  I did that, and it didn't work.  So I went to the online journals and found that I needed 2048megs minimum.  I repartitioned the hard drive with those new instructions, and MD2 installed just fine.
