Memory Stick Pro Duo not recognized

I have an Inspiron E1505 and am trying to use a Pro Duo card in the adaptor in the installed card reader. It isn't recognized. Anybody have an idea about this? I saw a previous posting but the Dell Tech solution is no longer available as my computer is out of warrantee.  HELP! Please.

Hey Balaji,

I noticed you were giving someone advice on this thread on how to get a Sony Memory Card Pro Duo stick to work with a Dell XPS M1330 laptop. It won't read my memory card!  I have it in the adaptor and it picks up the adaptor but won't read the pro duo.  It says "insert memory card" when I click on the icon in my computers.  Please help!  The thread you posted won't show up.

Thanks a lot.

I have just spent a few weeks with tech support regarding my brand new studio laptop and the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo situation.   After I finally sent them a scanned picture of the card and adaptor, they finally got it, and said just that the Pro Duo is not compatible with the system.  so there you go.  Dell doesn't support that particular Sony card set up.  no go.

My Sony Cybershot takes a Memory Stick Pro DUO.  My Dell M1330 will read Memory Stick Pro but not DUO, therefore the Memory Stick Pro DUO required by the camera with the adaptor presently sold as "Memory Stick DUO Adaptor" will not work. Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue?  I hate using the USB cord when I travel.

Looks like the same problem with an xD card in my Olympus.  Won't fit the Dell slot but they claim it is "supported".  Is there an adaptor available that will allow an xD to work in the m1330?
