Message from Dell
Hello, i am new to the forum. I just bought my son an XPX M1530. I got a welcome note from Dell in the mail with thank yous and all this information about the laptop. It said to go to Dell.com/Myinfo and confirm my email address to get a $25 coupon.
I thought that was fine so I go there and enter all the correct information out of the brochure they sent me and go to submit it and it tells me I have to enter the correct information as follows.
"The information you have entered does not match a valid customer in our database. Please enter your name and Purchase ID as it appears on your Welcome Kit that you received in the mail."
Except they are wrong all the information is copied out of the page they sent me and the email address that I ordered the computer and paid for it with. They certainly didn't have any trouble with the information being correct with that and my credit card number.
I also was supposed to get information about a $75 Dell card I would receive after my computer was ordered. I haven't received any information on that either. Supposed to get that approximately 6 weeks after the computer was ordered. 5/29/2008. Of course it didn't ship after a couple of delays until around June 15.
Anyone else have the same problem? Of course they didn't give a phone number to call with the information they sent me.
Dave

I can only advise you to either reply to the email they sent you with the discount offers, letting them know the information isn't being recognised/accepted.
Or call the sales team - on the number provided on the website support page, and explain the problem to them.

It was snail mail that I got the $25 offer. It didn't have any direct numbers on there, I can call them, the discount is supposed to be easy to get, don't know why the website didn't accept the address. Maybe cookies?
I may change settings and try again, the $75 offer is still on the table, you would thing I would be getting something on that pretty soon.
Would buy from Dell if the offers work, I need a WD Passport drive for my son.
Thanks for the reply
Dave

I'd shop around for prices first Dave! Even with $25.00 off, I suspect it could still prove more expensive to buy an external drive from Dell?
Check/compare prices on Newegg for instance? 320GB models are available from just US $110 + S&H / US $120 delivered (bottom of 2nd page) ;)
