A short while ago, the touchpad scroll feature stopped working on my Inspiron E1505 laptop. When I went into control panel and clicked on the mouse utility to see if the feature was disabled, the message, "Unable to connect to Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" popped up, and the subsequent mouse settings menu that popped up did not include the touchpad.
I have an external mouse installed, and I also installed the most current driver from the Dell website. The message, "System unable to connect to Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" still appears, and I am still unable to use the scroll functions on my touchpad.
My system is a Dell Inspiron E1505 with Intel Core Duo processors, running Windows XP.
Any sugguestions greatly appreciated.
