Missing or Corrupted Recovery Partition

Hello.

Yes, you need the Recovery Discs to reinstall the original image.

The Recovery Partition on your machine is linked to its original system. As you did a new install (even if you'd installed Win 7, you would have the same problem) this link is missed.

There are 2 ways to reinstall it.

1 You need the Recovery Discs with the factory image

2 You can manually aplly the image, using a tool named imagex (kind of advanced, but if you really really want this, wen can make it).

You can reinstall DDLB from dslbdownload.datasafelocalbackup.com/dsldownload-en.html

Run the installer on your laptop and it will re-create the recovery partition. It will, however, only perform a backup of the windows 8 system you have now.

If you have the original Win7 key (normally on a sticker under the battery) you can use a windows 7 retail disk to reinstall win 7 and then use the above process to reinstall the backup system.

You dont need the original disks, you can download The DDLB program from dslbdownload.datasafelocalbackup.com/dsldownload-en.html

You can install it under Win8 and it will create the recovery partition, however, it will backup the system as it is now.

Once you install win 8 the recovery partition is corrupted and cannot be used or repaired . Don't bother with datasafe. That was for win 7. Windows 8 has its own backup program called File History. Win 8 also has Windows 7 File Recovery that you can use for system images and backups stored on an external drive. Buy another one of those.

I dont see why are you guys telling him to install DDLB. He doesn't want to recreate the partition with Windows 8 files, he wants to recover his Windows 7 Factory Image.

Or am i missing something? :S

I have a similar issue, hopefully someone can help. I want to do a clean installation of Windows 7 Professional on my Dell Studio 1555 but my recovery partition has been corrupted. I tried using Dell Datasafe Local Backup but I don't have any images to restore from.

Is there some way I can get a recovery disc?
