Mobile broadband utility

Dear sir,

  I have dell studio 1558 laptop, I installed mobile broadband utility driver and also i installed AT&T application software. but my laptop not serching my sim card. Its showing "broad band device not found". So i want know what is exact problem. Actually there is broadband card is there.then also its showing same error.pls help me in this issue.

Hi Suresh,

Please share where you are currently residing and if AT&T services are avilable over there. Also share if you have taken any broadband service contract from AT&T or not. Dell Studio 1558 is shipped with following two WWAN cards:

  • Dell Wireless 5620 Mobile Broadband Mini-Card
  • Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA Mobile Broadband Mini-Card

Please share which one is installed on your system. You may check it in Device Manager. Here are the steps to access Device Manager:

  • Press the key combination Windows Logo key + R key to open Run dialog box.
  • Type in devmgmt.msc and click OK.
  • The Device Manager windows will appear.
  • The card will be listed under Ports (COM & LPT) or Universal Serial Bus Controller if its drivers are installed else it will appear under Other Devices with a yellow bang on it.

Also, share the Operating System installed. You will also need to install the Dell Mobile Broadband Manager application. Here are the steps:

  • Click on the below link: http://dell.to/18NmI2D
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • Dell Mobile Broadband Manager application will be listed under 'Applications'.
  • Download and install it following the onscreen instructions.
