Monitor replacement

Question

I own an Inspiron 2650 that is about 2.5 years old. Recently, the two points where the monitor attaches to the main keyboard/hard drive have become cracked, making the monitor loose. I've tried to super glue the cracks shut, but the glue just doesn't hold. The problem is getting worse each time I open or shut my laptop. Is there any way I can get my monitor replaced without replacing the whole system? Would the expense be worth it?

Is the screen itself cracked, or is the hinge/plastic cover cracked, or both?

The hinge parts should be inexpensive to replace. If the screen itself is damaged, it may not be worth repairing, given the cost of a new panel.

If you need hinge parts, call Dell and ask for Spare Parts. Or, try www.parts-people.com.

I'm pretty sure it's just the plastic cover that's cracked, not the actual screen itself, since my display works just fine. I'll give Dell a call and see how much it would cost to get replaced. Thanks!
