Motherboard Identification?

I have a P3/1GHz Inspiron 8000 with a bad motherboard.  I need to identify the part # for the motherboard so that I can replace it.  I removed the motherboard, but I do not see an easily identifiable part # on it.  How do I determine which motheboard I have?  The motherboard had been previously replaced by Dell, and is different than the one that originally shipped with the computer.  As well, where's the best place to get a replacement?

There should be a part number near the memory sockets.

Dell sells the boards, or try www.parts-people.com. If you decide to chance the wilds of EBay, make sure the seller is reputable.

You cannot buy parts such as mainboards online.

Dell Spare Parts 1-800-449-3355 ext 7269937

or try

http://www.bay-wolf.com/parts_insp8000.htm

for part numbers.

Yes ... I see the number: MY01K004-41013-198-DWQV.  However, when I entered this number in a Dell part # search, it didn't bring up any results.  In addition, when I was Googling, I did't find any motherboards with a part # that resembles anything like this.  Why is that?  Perhaps the better questions are 1) what boards will meet my needs 2) what are the differences between them 3) where on Dell do I get them?

Are the differences between motherboards compatable with the Inspiron 8000 documented anywhere?  If so, could you send me a link?

Here's the skinny on what I've been thinking.  If I'm going through the trouble and expense of replacing the motherboard, are there certain motherboards that would provide me greater benefits?  For instance, maybe a certain motherboard would allow a greater amount of RAM, have USB 2.0 ports, etc.  If I could analyze the differences, I could weigh the pros and cons of picking one board over the other.

I don't think there are any functional differences between the models. There are some Dells with processor limitations by revision of model number, but the 8000 should support all the mobile P3s (but NOT the mobile P3-m).

Not within the 8000 family. The 8100s have a higher RAM ceiling but need PC133 RAM (the 8000 used PC100) and require a new CPU (mobile P3-m, not mobile P3).

None of the C-series Dells supports USB 2.0 on the mainboard.
