Mouse pointer disappers intermittently on GeForce4 4200

Hi, sice I cannot search the forum this morning, I post a new thread here.
I have an Inspiron 8500 with GeForce4 4200. One problem: After a couple of hours of having the laptop running, the mouse pointer dissapears under an invisible line in the middle of the screen regardless of the active application. That happens on the whole width of the screen. The only fix is so far is to restart the computer... Which is not a fix at all.
I have downloaded the latest BIOS and DRVR for videocard from Dell but still not fixes the problem.

Any suggestions? Please help.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The latest driver and video BIOS should correct the problem.  Make sure that you uninstall the driver from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel before running the driver update.

I'm sorry to say but does NOT fix the problem. I unistalled the driver (A05) per your request and installed it back (previous time the latest DRVR, that is A05, was installed on top of A04). I have also flashed the latest BIOS. But as soon as the lid is closed and opened back the mouse disappears again. Do you really have a fix? I found out from your video forums that there are only some workarounds from the users but nothing from you that really fixes the problem.

If you think you have a fix why don't you post a step by step approach for us folks that are troubled by this issue?

Download the video drivers from the 8600 download's page.

I had the same problem and doing this corrected it.

Are you sure that we are talking about the same thing? I installed in a row all drivers available having the latest BIOSes for both motherboard and video card. Neither 4482 (alias A04) nor 4487 (alias A05) don't fix the problem. Lots of folks out here still complain about the same thing: when you close the lid (that only turns off the LCD) and then open it back, the mouse is gone under an "invisible" line in the middle of the screen. I don't think, like many others, that there is a fix for this problem even though it lasts for months. The only workaround is to reduce the hardware acceleration 1 step down under the Properties - Troubleshoot pane.
