mouse sensitivity

Hi, all:

I have a 600m.  I bought a Dell mouse from ebay.  When I plugged the usb optical mouse, the mouse is just not moving at all.  Then, I put a stack of paper under the mouse.  It got a lot better.  Before I had this optical mouse, I used a mouse from my ibm thinkpad t40.  that mouse worked fine.  I don't need any mouse pad and sensitivity is good.  but with the new dell mouse, the sensitivity really is really bad.  even with the mouse pad, it feels it responds slower than the ibm mouse.  any ideas how I can change that?

thanks

You mentioned that you are using an optical mouse and that it started working better when you put a stack of paper under it.  Do you have glass sheet covering the surface of your desk.  If you do, the glass sheet messes up the optical mouse, and you will need some form of opaque material for the mouse to work on.

Hope this helps

hi, thanks for the reply. the surface is a regular table. it is smooth surface, not glassy. it seems to me that if i put a mouse pad under the mouse, it behaves better, but still not smooth. i have an ibm optical mouse, works perfectly on the same surface. so, i guess it is a hardware issue.

thanks
