MP3 Player not recognized - No Driver?
I just attempted without success to install an RCA MP3 Player. My problem as they said was no driver. The CD that came with this new product only provided a Win98 driver and my WinXP would not let me download it. Should I not have already had a previously existing driver to work with? If so can someone advise which driver I should be re-dowloading? Sorry but my first instance of this and don't want to download the wrong stuff if this is the solution and frustrate myself further. BTW. the help people at RCA were NO HELP. Thanks all buglyh@hotmail.com

Carolyn,
I know you took the RCA back, but here's the link to the Firmware v4.07

By all means, update your motherboard's BIOS.
This may resolve all your USB issues.
You must update your mp3 player's firmware and your PC's BIOS.
Good luck.

Good afternoon to you. Sorry for the delay here in response as I unfortunately had to work.
That aside. I like the idea of uninstalling all USB stuff and then trying to re-install. That may indeed be the way to go. I was speaking with a fellow at work that has some knowledge and he indicated that some device driver could have basically taken over and isn't allowing others to load.
It was also mentioned to me about the BIOS. I have a Dell desktop which I actually like and to be fair this is the only problem I have had with it and this is my 2nd DELL. I'll let you know.. Fingers crossed I'm getting help tomorrow to do this just another pair of eyes to make sure I don't mess it up. I am finding out that I know a bit more than I thought but my confidence in performing the tasks requires an at hand teacher for the moment.
I'll of course keep you posted.

Hey there Joe.
Well DELL Support has had me re-do my whole system from scratch. It seems to ahve worked and the IPOD installed. I discovered that my USB ports just were not functioning.
Now I'm dealing with some images not appearing.. could be a java issue.. I'll have to see.
