Need suggestions on upgrading GPU

Hi,

I have Inspiron 5520 with the following specifications:

Core i7 3612qm
8GB RAM
Radeon HD 7670M 1GB
1TB HDD

I was wondering if I can upgrade my GPU, because currently its the only thing letting me down sometimes. I know every laptop has allocated space for GPU and not every GPU fits in. If anyone can guide me on this I'll be glad for the help.

Hi Abdul Rehman,

Inspiron 5520 is shipped with a single discrete card ‘Radeon HD 7670M 1GB’. The chip is embedded on the motherboard itself and there is no option of upgrading it.

Yes there are external USB adapters available online which may be used to connect the external graphics card with the system. you may purchase it from websites like amazon.com.

While there are some USB external video solutions, they're designed for multiple monitor support - not high performance video. There ARE some high performance video solutions that work externally - these require an Express Card socket, which your system doesn't have. And all of them essentially turn your notebook into a desktop, as they must be used with an external monitor - they cannot output to the internal monitor.

The only practical upgrade to an internal, notebook-useable GPU is a higher-end system.

Thanks for the reply, though I'm disappointed to hear that. Is there ANY other way to upgrade my GPU, like connecting it externally through a USB 3.0 port?
