New 1520 WiFi Connectivity issues.

  Hi folks,

I just bought a new 1520 laptop to replace an old 6000.

All seems fine with the laptop except the connectivity.

It connects, and when you look at the icon in the system tray at the bottom right hand of the screen it says excellent connection, 54Mbps.  This is the max my old router (Netgear DG834G with a high gain aerial) supports.  Under the device manager. drivers section the wireless card is a 3945ABG.

I have had to reinstall the OS and drivers once, I feel confident I have done it correctly, but I'm no expert so I could have made a mistake.

I've downloaded a couple of bits of software, and they only appear to be downloading at 50-70 kbs.  I've run a couple of speedtests and they are good : download 3902kbs, upload 303 kbs, ping 58ms.

Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I only got the laptop Monday so if it's a possibility it's a hardware issue I have got time to get back onto Dell for repair/replacement.
