Notebook LED Flash Codes

I support many Dell notebooks (several different models). I cant not find the LED flash codes for any of them. The codes are NOT in the user manuals or the service manuals. Why is this such a secret? Where can I find flash codes for Dell notebooks???

If you're enrolled in the self-maintainer that Dell has (Warranty Parts Direct) I believe you have access to them. But why the codes aren't released...I'm not sure. So, what type of error code are you receiving?

I'm not enrolled. So I have to pay Dell money to be able to know what the codes mean? That's not right. I'm not gettin any error code at the moment. Just tired of searching for information when I need it. The only time I've been able to find anything at all was getting lucky with Google. Dell should do better than that.

With notebooks, having access to the error codes is almost meaningless.  Other than the display, RAM, and CPU, almost everything is integrated onto the system board - meaning that even if you can pin down a failure to a specific component on the board, the end result is the same - anything other than an auxiliary (CPU, RAM, drive, display or, increasingly rare, discrete video card) - you have to replace the system board.

At the top of this forum is a link of FAQ's. After that there is a link for laptop POST test's and led codes. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Dell exams want to know the meaning of the flash codes. The info is not provided. Was just trying to find out where to get the information required. Sorry to bother.
