Notebook with at least 3 USB Controllers?

I need to purchase a notebook that has at least 3 USB controllers. The technical specifications only list the number of USB ports and not the number of USB controllers. Does anyone know if Dell sell any notebooks that have at least 3 USB Controllers? Thanks

Worth looking at the M series precision laptops... I THINK they have multiple controllers - I can see USB controller 27C8, 27C9, 27CA & 27CB in the device manager...

rsloan1,

As far as I can tell, our portable systems have two USB controllers.

Can you explain why you need three USB controllers?  Each controller is capable supporting multiple USB Hubs (as shown in Device Manager) and is capable of supporting up to 127 devices.

We need a notebook that can connect 3 USB peripherals with each one having a seperate USB controller. It's a solution needed to get around a limitation of some software that will be running on it that suffers from performance issues when the peripherals are using the same controller. Normally a single controller would be fine, it's just in this case a solution to a software issue which we unfortunately don't have the ability to change ourselves.

rsloan1,

Thank you for explaining.  As I said, the information I have is that there are two USB controllers on the system.  For a third, you might consider an ExpressCard USB adapter.  This should be seen as a seperate controller.
