opening pdf files

Inspiron 6000 notebook/windows XP.  Attempting to open pdf files from e-mail attachments or the web, opens Windows Media as a default (which is not able to open the pdf files). How do I change the default to adobe acrobat?

Open Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File types. Re-associate the pdf files with Acrobat.

First, try to save the file then after you download it, right click on the file and click properties then there's a CHANGE button there where you can click and change the default program to open it.

hope this helps.

When I open Explorer/Tools/ there is no Folder option.  Is it somewhere else?

Are you opening Windows Explorer (start-run-explorer or My Computer) or Internet Explorer?

You need Windows Explorer.
