ORIGINAL OR FAKE
Hi all
I recently bought a dell inspiron 15R ( i5 3rd gen, 8GB RAM, 2GB Radeon HD8730, 1TB HDD) . I bought this online from eBay . I bought this laptop after reading user reviews from many sites and everyone was praising about its battery backup [that they easily got around 4-5 hrs using WiFi and all even after having a 4-Cell battery].
I am having some trouble with the battery backup. When fully charged it shows like 90hr 54 min. I have included a screenshot of that. And the drain after that can't be justified. At some instant it shows 90%-3hr 50min remaining and at another instant it will be like 40%-1hr 20 min remaining . When writing this post i started at 60% and now down to 30% in like 20 mins.
I looked up on the dell site using my lap's service tag and it listed all the accessories associated with my lap. The code of charger and battery given on the site do not match up with what i have.
I want to know whether my battery and charger are original. And if yes , why is this happening ???

Ebay is an auction site-- not Dell. Dell does not sell computers on Ebay. Those are secondary sellers. Was the computer supposed to be new or used? It is hard to tell from the listing. The Service Tag will not have serial numbers listed, just part numbers. Contact the seller and find out who is responsible for the 1 yr warranty.

It is a new unused item. Yes, the service tag lists the part numbers and the part number does not match. The 2nd part of the serial numbers gives the part number ,right ?
The seller said 1 year manufacturer warranty and the service tag lookup also shows warranty till 2014.
Is the parts original ??

Also the service tag look up on the dell-site lists my laptop as touchscreen enabled even though i am not able to use it so far.
What should i do ?? For 30 days post buying eBay buyer protection is still available or should i contact dell instead ?? Or any other ???

You first need to contact the seller and have them transfer the warranty into your name - until then you have no warranty.
