OVERHEATING 8600!! PLEASE HELP, DELL HASN"T!

Hey.  I have had my dell for a while.  This has been going on forever and dell hasn't done anything helpful.  While i play games my computer (inspiron 8600) gets hot and the game will stop.  Then the screen will start turning into all these wierd colors.  I have downloaded a program that allows me to controll my fan, and that has helped, I also have a cooling pad.  If anybody else has had this problem with a Raedon 9800 for an inspiron 8600 please tell me what you did to fix it!!!  thanks

This seems really complicated, is there any other way.  I'm not that good in dealing with computer parts, especialy laptop parts.

Thanks again though

The last time I saw this happen is when I had an I8100 and I was trying to intall drivers under Mandrake Linux.  As soon as I tried to test the driver the screen went into a bunch of different colors and then slowly turned to black with specs of white or LED's that remained lit and appeared white.  Needless to say I was using the wrong driver.  Maybe you should try using different drivers.  I wouldn't recommend using Dell's branded drivers due to the fact that their driver support is about as good as their tech support.  So do yourself a favor and go to http://www.omegacorner.com .  Try these drivers first.  They may actually fix your problem.

The card in your 8600 is a Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo. Not a 9800 pro...

ok, first off, I really doubt you have a 9800 Pro in your i8600. To my knowledge they never made a mobile version of the 9800.

second, the instructions on bay-wolf for adding the copper plate are very simple. Just quit freaking out, an read them and look at the pics. It is very simple to do.

Those drivers will work with pretty much and mobile Radeon adapter.  It also works with all the Radeon desktop cards.  They are basically an improvement upon the original reference drivers.
