Plugging in my 8600
My last laptop was a HP and it required that I charge the battery and then let it discharge while I was using it to preserve the battery.
I was wondering whether my 8600 was the same. How is the best way of using my laptop to ensure the best quality of battery life?

The 8600 uses Lithium-Ion battery technology. Li batteries do not develop a memory like the older, NiCad batteries, nor do they have the minor problems you sometimes run into with nickel metal-hydride batteries. You may use your 8600 plugged in to the AC adaptor or on batteries without regard to battery life, though it is good to now and then fully charge the battery and then use you PC on the battery until you discharge it to the warning level. Don't run it completely down, or you risk losing your work (unless you Save often).
One slight word of caution; laptop PCs are not designed to be left on 24/7 or to strictly replace office PCs which run all day long, though they may be true desktop replacement machines. I have "abused" mine that way for the past year I've owned it - - it seems to be none the worse for wear.
