Precision m3800 - image retention (image persistence, ghosting...) issue
Hi everyone,
After 10 years sticking with dell laptops i only had positive things about all Dell products, BUT...
A month ago wanted to treat myself with Dell's new Precision M3800 workstation laptop. Finally got it few days ago, downgraded to win7, installed all the software i use and finally installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 and that's when i noticed something strange and something i have NEVER EVER experienced before on any display even though i've been using dell 24" IPS monitors, cheap netbooks and expensive workstations...
After starting Photoshop CS6 i've noticed ghost images of previously active tabs/windows on dark grey background. This ghost image disappeared after 2 minutes and i forgot about it. Next day i was using skype and PS simultaneously and again, once i switch to PS window i see a ghost of skype window on dark grey BG...
After searching the net i was not able to find anyone else having the same issue on M3800.
I must say that i love the machine, it's nice, <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> and fast but if this image persistence persists, i am going to introduce it to my workshop jewel, 2kg hammer.
Could this issue be related to a driver?
There is a specific order in which the drivers need to be installed and which i did NOT follow at all...
Many thanks for any help in advance,
Alek

Hi,
I bought a M3800 too with FHD screen and experienced exactly the same issue (bought in December).
In fact the issue is not new to me as I have the exact same behaviour on my XPS 12 since I bought it. It's been a year, the screen has been replaced several times and it is still not fixed.
You can see a full thread on the topic here : http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19497269.aspx?pi239031352=10
Regarding the M3800, I sent it back and asked for a refund. I advise you to do the same : the problem is with the screen [LG], not the drivers as it also occurs under linux, windows 8/8.1, windows 7...
Good luck,
Alain

Hi guys, sorry to buy you, but I don't know where I should look for help.
The DELL Precision M3800 just arrived. The reviews said that it was unusable because the fonts are to small in Adobe applications. But the sales man at DELL said that that problem had been resolved. How? I can't use my Adobe Applications without a magnifying glass. Changing the screen resolution has no appeal -- I bought the thing for the huge pixel display.
I have Windows 7 Pro installed -- which came with the system. I understand that Windows 8.1 handles fonts better. Should I dump 7 for 8.1 or wait for Windows 10. Otherwise it looks like a good system. If I get screen ghosting, I'm in trouble.
This is my first DELL in 10 years. Way back then a person could call tech support. It looks like tech support has disappeared. Am I right?

I’d try Adobe support. The problem here is Adobe are slow in adapting their applications to high-ppi displays. You may check with them for the prospect of your applications being updated soon.
