Problem with built-in webcam

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with built-in webcam.  I only started using it 2 weeks ago when I started using Skype.  When I am using it the picture keeps moving me forward and backward.  It is like I am getting close to the camera and then backing away.  It does this most of the time when I am using the video  call on Skype.  It is very annoying for the person on the other end of the picture.  Is this a common problem with the camera on this version of laptop?  If it cannot be fixed can I uninstall the webcam program and what is the program name?

Go to the Camera console and disable FACE TRACKING.

KirkD:

What do you mean "Go to the Camera console"?  The camera is built into the laptop.

Go to the Camera Icon in the Notification Area and right click. Then click on "Launch WebCam Console".

Went to control panel, right clicked on the camera and scanner icon, there was no option to " Launch WebCam Console". I am not recognizing what you call the Notification Area..

That is not for the internal camera. There is nothing for thr on-board camera in the Control Panel.

The notification area is at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop, near the clock. There should be an icon there for the webcam. If not, click the globe and goto All Programs and fine Dell WebCam Manager. Start the Manager, go to Tools and select the Console.

Thank you for the instructions.  I should have told you I was a novice at computer terminalogy.  I found the Webcam Manager and disabled the "face tracking". I will let you know if it worked.  All of my Skype contacts are offline at this time.

I Do Not See The "Globe" That You Are Talking About.
