Problem with using USB to ATA / ATAPI Bridge on Studio 1558

When i use this USB to ATA / ATAPI Bridge drive with Hard Disc i don't have any problems, but when i attach a DVD/ROM then my lap top didn't recognize the drive ( or it recognize but as a storage device and not as optical device and it's useless ). I have Studio 1558 running on win 7 basic. I need it for re-instaling my windows because my default optical drive is not working.

You're either going to need a replacement internal drive or a USB external - you will not be able to boot the system from an EIDE drive attached to a USB converter.

If you use your Dell WIndows disc to make the USB key bootable, yes.  You're going to need a working system's CD/DVD drive to do this, and it's isn't always easy to do.

If I re-instal my windows using downloaded copy of win7 (re-instaling using USB Stick) then apply my windows licence key, would it be accepted ?

Okay thank you, I'll try like that.

Edit: Again thank you, just finished re-instaling and everything is okay :)
