Okay in the file I told you R230103 the advanced setup options have:

So it is definitely included.

Please redownload Dell Webcam Software (R230103) if you don't already have it.

Next install 7zip (32 or 64 bit .msi depending on your OS).

Right click the file you have downloaded and select extract. Now go to the extracted folder,

Open the AvatarCr folder and select AVCSetup. Go through with this setup and then reattempt running the main setup (or go to the DWCentral folder and click the setup there).

We have a sticky at the front of the notebook forums regarding problems with Webcams, it may be found here.

en.community.dell.com/.../19403701.aspx

You may be aware of Dell’s document regarding webcam, if not it can be found from the following link

support.dell.com/.../document

I did take the opportunity to check and the Vostro 3350 should use Webcam Central. You can find info to download Webcam Central from the following link.

support.dell.com/.../document

When trying to download Webcam Central I suggest using Internet Explorer. Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

Liisk

What are you installing that is giving you this message?  If you downloaded the software where did you download it from? You may be downloading the wrong version of WebCam Central.

The problem is that I have the drivers, I just cannot install the software, because it says that I have to have Avatar Creator v4.6.2303.1. If i had this, I would be able to install the Webcam Central, but first I need the other software. Where can I get the other software, because I cant find it on the dell.com site. Only the software download, which says that I already have to have Avatar Creator v4.6.2303.1. Which I do not have...

Sounds like Webcam Central is corrupted on your notebook. Avatar Creator v4.6.2303.1. I  comes with Webcam central and is not a separate download.  I can only suggest completely uninstalling Webcam Central.  If the problem continues you may wish to consider reimaging the drive.

I do not have Webcam Central yet. I am trying to install it. For that I have to download M09 Dell Webcam Software Suite v1.1 (Consumer) package (with Dell Webcam Central v1.02.06). But I cannot find a place to download it. The dell site only gives me an option to download Dell WebCam Software, v.LCAC-DLWEB-1-LD, A00, but it will not install because I do not have the first programme and the  Avatar Creator v4.6.2303.1 that is supposed to come with it.

Seemed promising, but it said that I have no Live Cam Avatar Creator on my system so it stopped installing... Again brings me to the problem, that I need Live Cam Avatar Creator to get Webcam Central.

Sorry Liisk, but for all my information Live Cam Avatar Creator is part of Webcam Central.  That you are getting this message tells me either that Webcam Central is corrupted on system.  Or that you are using the wrong version of Webcam Central.

I don't think that you are using the wrong version now, but may have in the past and once the damage was done, its going to take completly cleaning out all versions of webcam central from your system.  If uninstalling Webcam Central doesn't help then I can only suggest reimaging Windows on your notebook.

I don't mind replacing the webcam on your notebook, and If I thought it would help I would have already offered that to you, I don't think the problem is with the actual webcam itself.  If you eliminate the webcam as part of the problem, that leaves webcam central, or windows.

The download I mentioned above has worked for me on all the Dell systems I have tried, even those without webcams.

I have a completely new laptop. I just installed Windows 7. I have installed all the drivers but I dont have the software to use the webcam. I have never had any software on this computer regarding webcam so it cannot be a corrupted programme. That is wht is weird, because it is brand new and everything should work perfectly. Yet I cannot install Webcam Central...

Thank you! I finally got it working. Did not know that I had to install Live Cam Avatar seperately before running the setup of Webcam Central.
