Problem with XPS 1730! PLZ help!!

Hey again.

 

I am sorry but you kind of lost me, i am from Denmark so my english is not perfect.  

 

But I understand that you once had problems with Crysis and UT3, and thats just like I have had.

I couldnt get Crysis to work so I had to buy COD4 insted.

 

And I have about a week ago downloaded the released drivers at nvidia.com to my 8700 card, and when I had installed it, I updated untill i couldnt update it anymore.

 

And what do you suggest I do now?

The drivers im using are seem to be newer but can you confirm where you get yours from is it .com site etc?

 

this is info for the drivers im using but only available in international english which might be why you dont see them

Under Nvidia control panel then Help and select system information, and underr forceware version,  what revision does it give should be in format like above

Im using Nvidia's own drivers for 8700m there classed as Beta's but they blow the effort dell have out the water, i couldnt play Crysis or Ut3 till i used them, although it's been months and no newer updates from Nvidia they came out february i think just go to Nvidia Site then drivers and from card selection just choose go 8700m and it says drivers are for dell xps 1730 and the alienware with Sli you wont regrest it as massive performance and stabilty although when i switch to my 40" panel for gaming it hangs but is a listed bug!!! hence being annoyed no new updates yet but you just have to setup once on external monitor go through the lock up grief, then everytim eafterrwards Vista knows the monitor and not a problem, something to do with the Dual monitor wizard.

can post what driver revisions your on, e.g goto device manager select video card properties and take note of driver revision & date then post that here,

 

i did have problem while back where the drivers started to crash alot but re-installing the Beta's same version over the top again fixed it.

The driverversion i got now is : 7.15.11.5669

(the date for the driver is 04-10-07)

is that enough ?

 

And do you want me to download the same driver for nvidia.com again?

if so.. shall I update it?

And it have go 8700m GT dual grafic cards (Sli)  

Hi nick_545, you say you got the latest drivers can you confirm a few things

1) what O/S are you using

2) what vid cards you got 8700 or 8800

 

And driver revisions, if your not sur ehow to get this reply and i'll give instructions

and also info on whether you got raid etc. check my sig. on 1730 as all info there for your system would help to work out were fault might be :)

and now I just download and install the driver at Nvidia.co.uk ?

 

and shall I reinstall my old drivers first?

 

and is there anything I should be aware of?

 

sorry for all my questions but I want it to work perfect :) now that I got some help :P

 

no just load the Beta's they go can straight onto a fresh build, don't need anyhting before them, but some times you can get issues with Nvidia drivers, in that your supposed to unload old drivers first but recently not had that problem, but if you do go to Laptopvideo2go .com and dthey have a Nvidia driver cleaner which you can run first then reboot then laod new drivers, but only do that if you get problems

Just load the 167.51 drivers and then forget about updates nothing is later than them at moment

use Nvidia co.uk site then under product type select Geforce m/Go  then product series Geforce 8m is by default  then product should say Geforce 8700m then operatign system should default to vista 32 bit , hit search button and it'll bring back the 167 betas

hey again.

 

The install went fine :)

 

And when i go in the Nvidia control panel it now says : 167.51 (ForeWare)

But .. when I look at the driver details in "unit handle" in System (hardware) it says that the driver is form 11/12 2007?? .. but the driver I downloaded were from 11/1 2008?

okay, think I have found it

 

it says: Version: 167.51

            Release date: 11.1.2008

            Language: English (international)

            File size: 57,4 mb

 

Is that it? and shall i download and install it?
