RAM issue - error code 2000-0123 validation 49491

Hi there

I have a Dell XPS 14Z.

I have been getting BSOD the past week.

When running a boot diagnostic, I get the following error message.

Error code 2000-0123 validation 49491

It looks like this is RAM error.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this? Is it a case of replacing the RAM on the laptop?

Thanks!

Hi SHAMANIAM,

The 0123 error refers to memory error.

There are 2 modules on your system. You would need to isolate if one of the memory modules is causing the issue or the slot on the motherboard.

One module is beneath the base plate and the other module is located beneath the motherboard.

Download the service manual here - http://dell.to/29TfGTG

You could order the replacement modules here - http://bit.ly/2mfK3G2

You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall both memory modules and then restart the system and re-run the diagnostics.  If you still see the same error, try one module at a time in each socket, re-testing until you isolate the bad module (if one module tests bad in each socket, replace it with a new one) or the bad socket (if both modules test bad in one socket, it's the socket that's bad -- in that case, the mainboard will need to be replaced).
