RAM self Upgrade
I have a Inspiron 1525 with 4GB inbuilt RAM. I have got an additional 8 GB DDR3 Ram and I wish to install the same. I am covered by Dell's complete care warranty and hence I wish to know if I can upgrade my system with the new RAM without affecting my warranty. Can someone advise?

Hi,
So you mean to say, you want to add the memory from the Inspiron N5110 to the Inspiron 1525? If that is the case then as per the manuals it will not support it. The InspironN5110 / 15R system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz, while the Inspiron 1525 supports DDR2 at 667 MHz.

Mine is actually a Inspiron 15R N5110 with DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE 4GB, 1333MHZ, DDR3, 1X4. You think this will work?

No...I had stated that my system is a 1525 by mistake.it is actually a 15r. I wish to upgrade for that

Hi,
Welcome to the Community. As per the Manuals the Inspiron 1525 will support a maximum of 4 GB. The Inspiron1525 / 1526 platform uses DDR2 memory and supports 533 MHz as well as 667 MHz memory modules. Yes upgrading over the specified amount, and if that causes damage to the system, then that will void your warranty.

Hi,
Okay, So you will need 2 sticks of 4 GB for a maximum of 8 GB on this computer. The Inspiron N5110 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz and maximum memory is 8 GB. It has two user-accessible SODIMM sockets, both slots can be accessed after removing the base cover. Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.
