Reattaching laptop key
The escape key popped off my inspiron 1521. I know this seems ridiculous, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it back on. Is there a trick to this? Thanks in advance for your help.

The reason the key cap is not going on the retainer clip is most likely a small "leg" of the retainer clip has broken off, or the back of the keycap has a small broken part, the only solution is to a) buy a new keyboard or b) buy a new dell laptop key replacement, the latter is cheaper and alot easier. Hope this helps.
