Red-Orange Screen at Startup

Hi, I have an older Inspiron 8500. Lately when I startup or resume from hybernate/standby my screen is a orangy-red colour for a few seconds before slowly fading to normal colourisation. I don't recall this happenning before. Is this a sign of aging and do I have much time left before I need to replace?

Many thanks,

Peter.

The backlight is failing.

Is that an easy fix or am I up for a new laptop? The 8500 must be at least 6 years old now.

The bulb is inexpensive ($20 or less) but quite involved to replace, labor-wise.  An LCD specialist shop can replace a bulb for $100-150 including part and labor.
