Red Tint on Start Up

Hi,

I have a Dell Studio 1535 Laptop running Windows 7 and just recently the screen briefly shows a red tint on start up, when I switch over to a new user account, or when I stop my black screen saver. Basically, any time the entire screen is black, there is a red tint when the desktop appears. It will only last a few seconds and then the screen displays normally without any tint.

A few weeks before, the screen seemed to "flicker" or "tremble" lightly - it didn't distort text on the screen but the light wasn't constant.  Also, the left side of the screen was slightly darker than the right. It would stay like that all day and regardless of my changing the brightness of the screen. The "flickering" was more apparent when I decreased the screen's brightness. I thought maybe it was due to a bad inverter so I replaced it myself but the issue wasn't resolved. Then a few days ago, I noticed a slight red tint on the bottom left of the screen. I restarted the computer and the whole screen was red tinted at the Dell startup page.  After I would log into Windows, the screen would change back to its normal color. The "flickering" is gone but now the tint is there anytime I switch from an all black screen to a regular screen.

The tint does not appear when I go into BIOS and I completed the BIST test. Every thing appeared normal during the test except when the screen turned white after it had been black - again the red tint appeared. However, when white appeared again later in the test, there was no red tint although it did seem a little yellow (unless it was just a visual illusion from watching the test so closely.) There are no streaks, blurriness, and the tint is not constant.

I don't have an external monitor to do further testing.  I've made sure I have the latest video drivers. Do I need a new display or perhaps a graphics card? From searching the forum, I haven't found a possible answer to this issue.
