Replace keyboard; screws extremely tight, hard to remove
It came time to replace the keyboard on my DELL XPS M1530. I found the screws extremely tight, hard to remove. When I did get them out (after half-stripping the phillips head slot), I found they had used what appears to be a thread lock coating on the screw. Not sure why that is needed here. This is the first time I've experienced this on a DELL laptop.
To extract the screws, I had to use a Stanley #1 phillips head screwdriver, put max pressure down onto the screw, and use a pair of pliers to rotate the screwdriver (that tight!!). I hope this note is of use to others.
BTW, for instructions, I found the 'Parts People' videos more useful than the DELL service manual.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for your post!! I spilled wine all over the top of my laptop! I have been able to follow blogs comments to remove the bezel of the keyboard and my heart sank - completely covered. I had, of course removed all liquid from the top. After i finally found "the screws" I attempted to remove the them. Ohhh no way!! And since it appears that there are multiple screws in there. I appreciate your comment soo very much! At least now I know it isn't just. I'm not a wimpy girl, but after reading all the steps you had to go through and I only have a little tech type screwdriver I know I won't be able to get out. Shame on you, Dell!!!
