replaced I6000 lcd, brightness controls reversed + problems

The lcd on my laptop went dim and was not readable. So I bought a new screen from ebay and installed it following the directions found on this site. Once I powered it up, the brightness controls were reversed. When I try to brighten it goes dim and vice versa. This is causing problems with the Dell quickset power options. While plugged in, the screen would be at maximum brightness. But it is somewhat dim. When I turn the brightness all the way up, the computer thinks I turned brightness all the way down, the screen would go blank after a few minutes. I would have to reboot to be able to see anything Did I do something wrong when I installed the unit? All of the connections on the wiring harness only go one way.

Did you use the exact same model screen you had, and if not, did you change the inverter with the screen?

I originally had the matte screen.  The one I purchased has the glossy screen and I purchased it with the inverter.  When I emailed the seller, he said it might be a BIOS issue?  Do you think it was problem with the inverter that it might need to be swapped?

Did the screen come from another 6000 system? LCDs aren't generically interchangeable - you need a screen for which the 6000 has been certified.

The screen did not come from another laptop.  It was listed as coming from the manufacturer and made for the Inspiron 6000.  Do you think there would any problems if I switched the inverter and tried it on my original screen as a test?
