Replacement battery with BIOS disk-screen now blank
I don't know if anyone can help me, but I thought I'd give this a chance. I purchased an Inspiron 8000 from a friend but the battery was dead. I got a new battery and it came with a BIOS upgrade disk. I installed the BIOS upgrade and the screen said that the computer would restart. When the computer tried to restart, it stalled for a few seconds and then you heard a whirring sound like it was going to start up but the screen was black. I shut it off and tried it again but the screen is still black and you can't get anything to come up on it. I'm not sure what happened or what I did wrong but if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

I can't get it to boot up at all. The screen is blank. Nothing comes up. I guess I will try that link you sent for the new BIOS chip first. Thanks for all your help! Hopefully the chip works!

Many a times when the system is not able to flash the bios properly, under such a circumstance the system goes blank
on reboot. The problem could also be with the bios ver sent in floppy, which could be damaged.
Therefore I would suggest you to flash the bios once again with the floppy sent to you with the battery and check.
If that does not solve the problem then, download the latest version of bios onto a floppy and flash it.
This would have all the updates for the system.
a floppy and flash the system again.
