Restoresystem.exe error

Hi

I'm going mad here running round in circles on the website trying to contact tech support. I phoned them but they were rude and unhelpful and immediately wanted to charge me for help despite the fact the laptop is under warranty. Grrr.

I want to restore the pc to factory state but when I run Dell Backup and Recovery Manager the PC reboots and I get the error message

"restoresystem.exe was unable to start correctly (0x000007b)"

I only have the Dell Factory Image from when I bought the pc.

It's a vostro 3750 laptop if that makes any difference.

Please help :)

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Let me know the operating system installed on the system.

Also, are you trying to restore your computer back to factory settings?

Thanks & Regards

Hi Manshu

The first link sends me to the manual which is no help whatsoever. I have read the instructions anyway and tried the restore from both inside and outside windows with the same error message.

I was sent no windows dvd with the laptop. Nor can i find anywhere to get one on the website.

I have purchased 8 dell laptops for various people over the past 2 years and frankly I think the 'support' is rubbish

regards

john

Hi John,

Thank you for the reply.

I would suggest you to click the link mentioned below for steps to perform PC Restore:

http://dell.to/Wj1rZe

Ensure that you perform PC Restore by following the steps mentioned on the link.

If the PC Restore fails with the same error code, perform the re-installation using the Windows DVD. Click the link mentioned below for the steps to perform re-installation:

Hi

I've already seen this but as you say it's US only. I'm in the UK

Dell backup and recovery manager does say I can create a recovery disk but I've assumed the factory image is somehow corrupt and I've not wanted to take the risk.
