Question

I've been having Blue Screen issues for a long time now and can't seem to get any help. It only occurs after ejecting a DLA formatted disk. Finally I decided to do an Operating System repair to see if that would clean this mess up. It didn't....

So yesterday I updated my video thru Dell Driver recommended Drivers for my specific laptop. That didn't help either. Please help me before I crach my entire computer....anyone????

Also, when just using regular disks (without the DLA format) and I close out, I get the following error messages....

First set of error messages:

Mediahub.exe - Aplication Error
X The instruction at "0xffffffff" referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The
memory could not be "read". Click on "ok" to terminate the program.

Then pops us --

X The instruction at "0x0002002b" referenced memory at "0x2700005e".
The memory could not be "written". Click on "ok" to terminate the program.

Then pops up -- ......runtime something or other???

Then, the next time I used my program and went to exit out, I received these 3 messages....

Mediahub.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x0003b7a8" referenced memory at "0x0006b630". The
memory could not be "written". Click on "ok" to terminate.

Then

Mediahub.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00020027" referenced memory at "0x0d59a41a".
The memory could not be "read". Click on "ok" to terminate the program.

Then...

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
X Runtime Error!
Program: ...ommon Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call

Why???? Please help!

Hi, eschil:

First, I searched your errors and Google quickly found this solution. I recommend searching error messages before posting since it's likely someone else has experienced the same problem.

Second, we regulars in the CD/DVD forum do not recommend using DLA unless you have a critical application that requires it, such as older versions of Quicken and some other financial applications. My suggestion would be to uninstall it.

Oh my gosh! Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to answer my question! I've been searching for this resolution for a long time now but I guess I just wasn't asking in the right place! You nailed it! :)

However, I have another question for you. Don't I need DLA to re-write on a CD-RW disk? For instance, I have my personal address database and a couple other files I add and remove stuff from on a regular basis. How would I change info in my database and re save the file without having to erase the entire disks content? Do you know what I'm asking?

Anyway, if you could help me with this question or direct me to where I would get this answered, I would be so happy! :)))

Hi, eschil:

You do not need DLA to write to CD-RW discs. You can use the XP CD burning wizard.

Yes, it is useful for backing up files that frequently change, such as your address database. However, given the problems that so many have had with DLA, I would recommend a different approach. A flash drive would be one way to accomplish this. You can get a 4-8GB flash drive for only $10 or so. Not only would this method be faster but much more reliable and without any of the DLA headaches.

So, first of all...I followed the instructions on the link you suggested regarding my DLA issue and so far I no longer get a blue screen. This is good! :) However.......... tomorrow I plan to relocate all my CD-RW disk information to other media and uninstall the DLA. The flash drive.............:emotion-55:!!! Of course!!! I recently bought one and was just admiring it's features! Boy, I'm slower than I thought! :)))

Anyway..... I think I'm good now thanks to you. :)
