Screen Aspect Ratio

Hi

Is it possible to change the screen aspect ratio on my XPS to standard 4:3 rather than "widescreen" so that my video games don't appear stretched.  Yes I know that will center my desktop and leave bars on the side.

Thanks

Indeed it is. Assuming your machine has an NVidia card and you're using relatively up to date drivers, you can do it this way:

Right-click on the desktop
Select NVIDIA Control Panel
Under the 'Display' tree, select 'Flat Panel Scaling'
Select 'Do Not Scale' for no scaling, or '...with fixed aspect ration' to have it stretch to meet on of your screen borders.

Easy! Hopefully this fits your configuration. It's usually possible to change this option in your BIOS as well.

you might try video settings within the game itsself as well.  most video games have the option to change to a wide screen aspect, atleast most within the past few years, older games probably dont.
