Screen Compatability Issues?!?!?!
Ok.. new to the forums, but ima give it a shot.
My friend's Inspiron 8000 screen crack and ordered another one from dell. They said they did not have the exact model. But they did have a compatable one that was sent to her. After trying to install it we were unsuccessful. But here are the things i noticed.
1 - The screen (obviously) isnt the same as the original one.
2 - When booting up with the new screen, it stalls and then sits there. The screen instantly turns white, then fades to black. moments later it starts to stripe with black and white lines, with a thicker black line in the middle...
3- When booting with the old screen, it boots normally, after loading up XP, if i replace the screen with the new one while its running, the screen works fine! i can standby and hibernate, but if i try to reboot, it doesnt load up again
4- running dual monitors with the new screen makes the other monitor the primary one.
5- The old screen and cord note "Rev00" and the new ones read "Rev 02" (or may be 0A, im not sure now)
6 - The pins connecting the screen to the laptop are different on the 2 cords and the new one wont fit into the laptop. The sides that go into the screen work fine though.
I feel its something to do wityh the BIOS but i cant figure it out.. and help on the matter would be thankful for my friend leaves for college tommorrow :(
thanks for all/any help
