Screen not displaying after closing lid

After I close the lid of my 8500, the little button that tells the machine whether or not the lid is closed gets stuck in the down position.  With a little coaxing, it'll come up and I can use the computer; but I don't really like doing that.  Is there any way to fix this?

Actually, I should have clarified... sorry, I am talking about the little switch that is above the power button and to the left about an inch.  It becomes lodged in the down position when the lid is shut.  Sorry for the confusion.

i've solved the problem due changing the settings in the poweroptions. I've set the "turn of monitor" to never... It seems that windows has trouble with resuming from a switched off screen.

Good luck

If you do what Viper suggested, the little button you're describing won't have any effect so, it won't matter if it gets stuck.
