Shift key problem

Hi,

I am using  DELL Inspiron 15R (i15R-2105sLV) and have a problem with both shift keys. The thing is they both not working properly : my left shift key truns on caps lock and when holding it I cannot write eta or other simbols. When presing right shift key it writes down x and does nothing with shift plus 2 and etc. combination. I ran Dell support keyboard test and used shift keys with on-screen keybord turned on and they confirmed this problem.  I am using Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit edition.

I failed to find any solutions to this problem and I would be very grateful if anyone could help me to solve it

Hello Paulius,

In order to isolate the cause of failure, I would request you to connect an external USB keyboard and check if the issue persists.

Please write back with your findings.

Hello Paulius,

Thank you replying. Since the external USB keyboard is working fine, I would suggest replacing the keyboard of the laptop. Does the computer have an active warranty? You can check the warranty status here (Enter the service tag, click submit and check for the warranty status). In case of expired warranty scenario, we would not be able to extend warranty entitled services. If the warranty on the computer has expired, you may contact our Expired Warranty Services (this is for US based customers).

Please write back if you have any further questions.
