shift keys

I have a Latitude D600 running windows xp.  Both shift keys do not work.  I am able to introduce caps into this message only by using the on screen keyboard feature.  This is also the only way I can type any character like @.  I can also access caps through the caps lock key.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard driver.  I don't know if there is a newer driver out there.  I have also tried running the computer in safe mode, but it still doesn't work.  It doesn't matter which software program is running.

Help!

Jim

Run the Dell diagnostics on the keyboard. F12 at boot to get into the diagnostic partition. If the keys fail when you press them, replace the keyboard.

its not too hard... you can get em on ebay...

youll start the removal process at the spot where the screen meets the notebook by removing the bezel... the rest is self explanatory really... just be careful :)

Is replacing a keyboard on a dell laptop something your average user can manage?
