Small Screen in games

Question

Whenever I play games on my Inspiron 1100 laptop...the games go to this small box instead of full screen.  I hate that.  Whats the point in haveing a big monitor if the resolution is so small.  How do I change that.  Thnx for the help~Jon Mayhak

You have probably set the game's resolution to below that of your LCD's native resolution. When you do that, one of two things will occur: the image will be streched to the size of the screen, making text and other details appear blurry. This is caused by your LCD screen interpolating pixels (making bigger pixels out of smaller ones). The other thing that can happen is that the image will scale so that the pixel size remains the same but the overall image will not fill the screen.

Try going to your game's video options and set the screen resolution to that of your LCD's native resolution. The game should now fill the screen. I do not know what the native resolution of LCDs on 1100s are but the native resolution on the 1150 is 1024 x 768.

In all the games i have, they don't offer an option to raise the resolution.  And I never messed with it to begin with.  Somebody plz plz help me.  lol

well, I've seen it on Gunbound(a free download game), diablo 2, empire earth, and starcraft.  Those are the only games I really play on this laptop, and they all stay in these little boxes.  lol I dunno how to make them full screen.  It be cool if i could at least put the games in window mode, but I'd much rather just have full screen.

Here's a link a Blizzard support article that addresses this issue for Diablo II, but only if you are willing to accept the blurriness caused by interpolation:

The resolution for Diablo II and Starcraft is fixed at 640 x 480, so you will have to put up with the smaller screen size if you want to play these games on your notebook.

I know that the resolution for Empire Earth is adjustable. Read the manual on how to do this in-game. Typically, resolutions can be changed under the Video section of the Options menu.
