Hi duyenlv,

Thank you for the reply. 0146 error indicates a possible hard drive issue. I will recommend you to run the extended test on the hard drive:

  • Restart your system and keep tapping 'F12' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
  • Highlight 'Diagnostics' using up/down arrow keys and press enter.
  • When the diagnostics starts, press 'Esc'.
  • Select 'Boot to utility partition'.
  • Select 'Test system' and select 'Custom Test'.
  • Select 'Hard drive' to run the custom test.

Please share the exact error, if any.

Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried as you guided, but on step 3 "When the diagnostics starts, press 'Esc'", I cannot see "Boot to utility partition" option, so when press "ESC" the test aborted and system show dialog to reboot computer.

You can run the 'Custom Test' on the hard drive following the below steps:

  • Highlight 'Diagnostics' using up and down arrow keys and press enter.
  • Once you get 2000-0146 error, continue the test.
  • After sometime, you will get a message 'Would you like to run the remaining memory test'.
  • Press 'N'.
  • The system will boot to utility partition.
  • Select 'Test system'.
  • Select 'Custom test' and select 'Hard drive' to run the test.

Please let me know the exact error code while running Custom test, if any.

You need to replace your faulty hard drive with a new one, and then reload the operating system.

@ejn63:

Currently, I still using Windows 7 normally, but my windows sometime show an alert about disk fail.

My laptop is bought 1,5 years ago so it's new laptop, I feel tired of that problem.

So, Is there other way to fix it?.

Please help me.

Thanks.
