Sound buttons not working
Hi
I have a new Dell Latitude D820, I had to re-install the OS on the machine as McAfee 8 crashed the machine. I have installed all the relevant drivers (SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver, 5.10.0.4823) for the sound card, but the mute, volume + and - keys on the keyboard do not work.
I found this great help below, but installed the drivers and they still do not work
Why will the volume buttons on my portable computer not work?
The audio drivers native to your operating system do not enable the volume buttons. Installing the correct drivers from the Dell web site or your drivers CD will enable these buttons. This is especially true of Windows XP. The system-specific driver for the function key volume controls and the Access Direct volume buttons needs to be installed for these buttons to work.

Reboot between each, this will then insure proper install and working of the rest of the Dell Drivers you need.
Volume Buttons will need QuickSet installed, perhaps Dell Notebook System Software as well and you should also
install your ALPS driver (under "Input Devices") "Display Devices" refer to external monitors.
Click this Link to open the D820 Download Drivers Website.
Also may be Other Utilities and Drivers from that site, depending on what is installed in your system.

I uninstalled the ALPS driver and everything works OK; do you have any idea of what could be happening, or when is dell going to release a new version of the said driver?
