Sound not working
I have recently purchased a Dell inspiron N5050 and over the past week or so, the sound has been playing up.
When I turn on the laptop, I will get the start up music, and any other sound that is related to windows works and plays fine as per normal.
When I go onto the internet (I use google chrome, but this also happens in internet explorer) any sounds from this will not work (youtube etc).
I have also notices that itunes does not work properly - When I press play, the symbol changes from the play to the pause, but no sound is hear, and the bar at the top does not move.
It is not muted in the mixer, I have also tried installing any updates and restarting, but that hasn't worked either.

Hi Luceeyx,
You may try the following steps and check if the issue gets fixed.
Steps 1:- Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>the Multimedia section and make sure that "play sounds on webpages" is checked.
Steps 2:- Go to All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control, make sure none of the mute boxes are checked.
Step 3:- Go to Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Volume, make sure on that tab nothing is clickable,
Step 4:- Go to the manage add-on or Internet options in the Advanced menu. You probably diabled the sound in the web browser. Just check the box with a checkmark to re-activate.
Step 5:- Go to the site : get.adobe.com/flashplayer and click on Download now and install and run the program and reboot the computer and check.

1 - There is no internet options under tools in google chrome, there is only extensions, task manager, clear browsing data, report an issue, encoding, view source, developer tools, and javascript console.
2 - Under accessories, there is no entertainment option.
3 - Under control panel, there is no sounds and audio devices.
4 - I don't understand what you mean by advanced menu.
5 - I have flash already built in, in google chrome, and it is fully updated.

Hi Luceeyx,
You may try the following steps and check if the issue gets fixed
Go to the Sound Control at the bottom right (next to system time & date) at the notification area and check to see if the Internet Volume is muted or not. If its muted, unmute it. That should fix the issue. If that’s not the case,
Try uninstalling the Audio driver from the Device Manager using the following steps:
1) Go to Start Menu > in the search box, type in : Device Manager and press “Enter” Key
2) Under Sound, Video & Games controllers, uninstall the Audio Driver. Reboot the system after that
3) Go to the Dell Support Site @ www.support.dell.com and select “Drivers & Downloads” for the latest Audio driver for your system. After the Driver is re-installed, reboot the system again and try checking if the issue is fixed.

Hi, I have checked and in the mixer, none of them are muted.
I uninstalled the driver as suggested, reinstalled and rebooted my laptop, and I am still not getting any sound from the internet, but am still getting sound from windows.

Hi Luceeyx,
Generally this problem arises due to Flash Player’s Global Settings which accidentally gets changed unknowingly with user’s intervention. Try the following steps:
1. Flash stores its files in a temporary files folder. A corrupt download can cause the sound problems, so we will start by deleting the following folders:
C:\Users\%UserName%\appdata\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Player
C:\Users\%UserName%\appdata\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player
2. Delete all files and folders to empty folder temporary internet files.
Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools and then Internet Options. Click on Delete under Browsing History and click on Delete button to delete all temporary Internet files from Internet Explorer.
3. Now empty your temporary files folder.
Use this command to empty your temporary files folder:
Start -> Run -> %TEMP%
4.Uninstall the existing flash player frm Control Panel > Programs & Features
and reinstall the latest version.
