Speedstep doesn't work

Hello Dell,

I have a Latitude D500 1.3GHz. The laptop is working fine but is always running on a lower speed. When I take a look at the current speed it says 595MHz. Also when I am working with PhotoShop or another program.

On other Latitudes the speeds are fine and always the max speed (ie 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz)

I check the BIOS and everything is set to the correct values. Am I missing something of am I doing something wrong? Could anyone please help me out how to set the speed to the maximum.

Thanks a lot,

Sebastiaan.

Search around for the program called SpeedSwitch, it allows you to control the speed of your computer.  You can keep it on max speed all the time.

So there is no option in the BIOS to change this? I mean, when you buy a 1300MHz you want to run it on 1300 right.. not on 600MHz.

And is the use of this software save? Is it supported by Dell?

Yes it is safe.  I don't think dell has anything to do with this software.
