Start up situation/ error - [C drive > Program files>Dell]

Hi

For the past few months everytime windows boots the desktop loads, then a folder opens which is the Dell folder found on the path [C drive > Program files>Dell].

I simply close the folder so it doesn't bother me but it's now quite annoying and not supposed to do that I'm sure.

Can anyone help?

I had a look in start up folder but don't really want to remove dell files do i?

I am running windows xp home on an inspiron laptop 1300.

Many thanks

I think that is your problem.

Don't delete them just move them one at a time somewhere and reboot. When you find the offender you can delete it.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my incompetence but how exactly do I move the files, where from and too?

Is that the same effect as unticking the box next unthinking to the file listing in Start> Run> Msconfig > Startup tab?

Also just rebooting doesn't show the dell folder, it only occurs when you turn the laptop on initially.

thanks for your time

Go here:

C:\Users\Jimmy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

and remove the short cuts that you do not want to run.

Also check by running " MSCONFIG " from the Start menu in the start search block type in msconfig press enter, then go to the startup tab and unselect the items that you do not want to run at startup.
