STUDIO 1450 CPU Upgrading Possibility

Hi,

I have a DELL STUDIO 1450 Laptop with a Core 2 Duo P8700. Recent games are very much lagging on my system. I was wondering about upgrading my processor to a QX9300. But after goggling I'm confused whether I can upgrade my processor or not. I couldn't find an absolute answer. Please tell whether its possible to upgrade my laptop processor? And will I have to change my battery and power adapter to go along with the processor?

Current Spec: Core 2 Duo P8700

Charger output: 19.5V 4.62A

Battery: 11.1V 6-cell Li-ion

Upgrading to Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300. Also I would like to know if its possible to upgrade the video card/memory(ATI HD4530 512MB) of my laptop as well.

Thanku..

Hi vishnunathcr,

Dell has not tested the system with Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300. The processor is not compatible with the system.

Dell does not recommend or offer processor upgrade but it is as your discretion in case you really wish to go ahead with it. Warranty per say, issues arising due to the upgrade will not be covered under warranty; however we will continue providing support for other issues and parts.

Please feel free to reply for any further questions. I will be glad to assist you.

The video chip is not upgradeable - and it's not worth the cost for an Extreme CPU, even if it will work.  It's a bit like adding a turbocharger to a Hyundai Accent - it's technically possible, but in the end, even with the added horsepower, it's still an economy car without the handling and braking to match the horsepower.
