Studio 17 laptop cd eject

A friend of mine, made a cd for me and used a mini cd...she put it in my computer and it will not eject, so now the cd drive is useless

Is there a way to get it out without sending the whole unit to DELL?

Is there a pin hole on the faceplate of your CD drive? If so, stick a paper clip into it. The tray should pop out.

Paula,

Have you tried the following: Click on Computer, right click on the DVD drive, left click on Eject?  You can also try turning off the computer and pressing the DVD eject button before Windows boots.  If neither of these methods work, you may need to remove the drive assembly and manually reseat the disc so the drive can open.  It sounds as if the disc wasn't fully seated when the drive was closed.

Let us know how you fare.
