Studio 1735 Memory, Maxium Quantity
I have a Studio 1735 I purchased about a year ago. It was then limited to 4 GB of memory and stated so in the manual. When going to the Dell site today you can purchase the same Studio 1735 but with an option to up the amount of memory to 8 GB. Now what I want to find out is will my Studio accept the 8 GB of memory as the ones being sold today or did they change something in the newer Studios to accept the 8 GB over the older Studios that are listed at 4 GB memory? Also if you go to Crucial and use the site to check on a Studio 1735 they only say 4 GB total for it and nothing like the Dells site of 8 GB now when getting a new order in for this very same laptop. There has been no new BIOS updates since the one A05 released on 12/05/2008. I have always operated under 64 bit Vista Ultimate and if possible to get it updated to the 8 GB of memory it would really help out the laptop considerably.

PrissyTeenie,
It sounds possible, since you have a 54-bit system. Run the scanner Vista tool at Cricial and it will tell you what you can install.

The older model Studio 17 - 1735 -- has a 4G limit.
The current model is the Studio 17 - 1735, with the newer Montevina/Centrino 2 chipset - it has an 8G limit.

I have also been wondering about this. The current model is the 1737, and its manual also states that there's a 4GB limit. I started a thread about it here: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19283743.aspx
The thread contains a link to the manual.
