Syncing laptop to desktop

There is a new tool from MS, SyncToys. I have not tried it because you need to have .NET Framework installed for it to work and I have no need for .NET framework at this time. I use a add on-included program from PowerDesk Pro, that is a file management program, that you can manually sync folder from one PC to another across a LAN. No it does not work automatically. You have to start the program and select the folders you want to sync. Works for me.

The easy answer is not really.  You can use the Briefcase but it has severe limitations.  I'd recommend on email setting your secondary computer to leave a copy of emails on the server, and then CC yourself on any reply you send from it.  That way the main computer will always have all of your emails on it. 

 

If you make a folder on your second computer called "Documents to move to primary computer", then you can store stuff in there and move it to the main computer each night.  Also, you can easily copy My Documents from the primary to the secondary each night.
