System Date and time changing abruptly

Hi,

I have a 4.5 year old Dell Inspiron 1464. I have the latest BIOS update installed.
Since few weeks I have noticed that the system date/time is changing automatically to 2019 or 2025.
Is this caused by virus or a weak CMOS coin battery?

Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

>since you mentioned that you are experiencing a time and date change after BIOS update, try rolling back to previous BIOS version.

>you can find the previous version of bios at dell support website. Enter service tag--go to drivers and downloads-- BIOS-- so previous versions.

>Run the exe file.

>check the status after doing the above mentioned step.

Thanks

Hi jay.reevs,

Ideally the system date getting reset indicates CMOS battery charge is less or completely drained. I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

Please let me know the findings.
